Karl Hans Janke - the "artist-inventor" of Hubertusburg

It is the time for bold visions. After WW II the world’s population looks optimistically into the future. Sputniks and rockets fly and the thoughts of people worldwide are with them. The settlement of the moon and Mars seem to be within easy reach.

Even in the psychiatric department in the romantic Hubertusburg near Leipzig a man is thinking in such a way : Karl Hans Janke, a patient with unquestionable technical talent, sees himself as an artist and a technical designer. From 1948 until his death in 1988 he created about 4.000 works – for instance paintings and models of strange spaceships.

Rosen Garten e.V. presents on this homepage a part of his works and invites you into the marvellous and strange world of Karl Hans Janke.
